During the next three weeks, January 9 – 27, 2012, Stockdale students, PreK – 12, will be participating in a school and youth program called ‘Pennies for Patients’. This is a service learning and character education program that gives students the opportunity to work together to help thousands of children and adults in the fight against blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. On November 11, 2011, three local veterans and bus drivers, from Stockdale, took time out of their schedule to come speak to the 6th Grade class. They spoke about the importance of our armed forces and told stories about things they experienced while they were serving in the military. Butch Bosanko served 4 years in the U.S. Navy and 16 years in the U.S. Air Force, L.H. West served 5 years in the U.S. Air Force, and finally Terry Carter served 4 years in the U.S. Coast Guard.
